I'm almost done with book 3 and I can't stand Walter. I know, he's not a bad kid. I know, he comes from a weird planet with weird people and all that stuff, but dammitdammitdammit I wanna slap some sense in his brain.

Exactly. Someone else suggested taking his computer out of his hand and smacking him in the head!

Yes, I read the Giver about 15 years ago. I'm sure it helped instill in me a love of science fiction and dystopian stories. It is a YA novel but it's one of those books that can be read and enjoyed at any age. Monica Hughs has some brilliant YA works as well, particularly the Keeper of the Isis Light series.

Haven't tried Molly yet, still have Hurricane to get through and I'm using the rest of my free time trying my hand at writing a novel of my own. Maybe I'll pick it up when I've got my first draft done

When I was at that point in the series, I also ground my teeth with Walter. But, isn't that a great testament to how good Hugh is with writing? I find myself emotionally invested in the characters...both positively AND negatively!

Personally, I find WOOL to be his best work but Molly to be his most creative. The way he crafted the environments, people, and the imagery are great. Also, have to the plot lines and the...um, the "mystery" that is involved in it. I have to say mystery because idk how to do the spoiler bar. Haha.

oh definitely. Book 3 pushed me through all sorts of emotions. And the fact that I cannot stand a character usually speaks for good writing. Ya know, when it's intentional that you dislike the character. Not the Bella Swan type that one just has to dislike because anything else isn't really an option. xD
