    Hello from Ed-7 Kalifornia
I discovered Hugh's writing soon after I started reading e-books. I really like exposure to new writers. First Shift:Legacy (Wool 6) was one of my favorite books this year, answering some questions about the Silo world, but increasing the mystery and madness into the stratosphere. I'll be reading the Plagiarist soon, and greatly look forward to the Zombie book AND WOOL 7!

This review is from: Wool Omnibus Edition (Wool 1 - 5) (Kindle Edition)
I found the books very interesting, and in fact have purchased Mr. Howey's other other books. I have enjoyed his other (Hurricane, Half-way home) books as well.

MOD EDIT: Here is your intro post (the link needs to be included in your entry post).

My Entery for The Great Proof Giveaway!

    Hello from Patrick -

Here is a link to my introduction:
    http://hughhowey.com/forums/showthre...-Hello-from-IT

Here is my Amazon review of the WOOL Omnibus:
If you were like me and became totally enamored (and ultimately disappointed) by the Swan Station story arc in Lost, then you NEED to read this book. Where Lost dropped the ball, Wool takes it, runs with it and does not disappoint. A mysterious underground dwelling, hidden secrets, computers, protective suits, lies, strong characters, technology and hidden pasts - this book has it all! I will continue to buy all of Hugh Howey's Wool books. I'm a fan for life!

Here is my favorite moment from the WOOL series:

    How cool is that!?!?!?!?

Can't wait or Wool 7 and I, Zombie.

    Patrick

    Hi All,

Here is the link to my introduction.

I have always appreciated the written word and what some incredibly talented individuals have been able to do with it. WOOL reminds me of something Rod Serling might have created. Tight crisp writing, interesting characters and a more surprises and twists than a circus fun house. When Lucas puzzles out what really happen to the outside world, I just couldn't help but pictured Charlton Heston in Planet of the Apes, "You Maniacs! You blew it up! Ah, damn you! God damn you all to hell!"

I am amazed how each book was able to setup and integrate with the next. I shed a small tear for Knox and beaned with joy for Solo (no longer alone). I am lucky enough to be late to the party (see introduction) and was able to read the Wool - Omnibus nearly straight through. Now I am in the same silo as all of you and eagerly awaiting the next Hugh Howey project.

Happy to be back from the down deep,
    John

Oh Wool, you saucy seductive beast you. You lured me in with your awesome cover and left me hanging at the end thinking "WHAT THE HELL...He Killed HIM?!?"

Wool is a book, I not just loved, but became a book I became passionate about sharing. When the pages ended, my imagination began. Hugh created a new world for us to enjoy and experience. A world of intrigue and mystery. A world where nothing is what it seemed...or is it.

This is a story that turns readers into fans, and leaves everyone incredibly grateful for the journey. Thanks Hugh for Wool, and for the countless other stories that you will one day share with us also!

    Introduction Thread

I started the Wool series based on a friend's recommendation and am very happy I did. It is a rare and special treat to have such a vivid and exciting world created for you. I was hooked after the first paragraph. The writing style is rich and descriptive while not laborious to read: I would go so far to describe it as borderline poetic.

I convinced my wife to read the fist book, and just to see how she liked it (she was tired of my constant ravings about how great it was).. I she spent the next week cursing me since she didn't get her book club book read as she was too immersed in the world of wool.

As for the series I would simply like more. I want to know more stories from the world and eagerly anticipate the Next books.

    Intro: http://hughhowey.com/forums/showthre...t-from-Indiana

I have been trying forever to copy my Intro. It shows here but isn't blue color. Tried on home computer but no "Quick Reply" section showing. I can't stand being so dumb!

Anyway, in regards to Wool and Hugh's writing. I've written much about my thoughts in reviews and to Hugh personally. I had never read Sci-fi prior to Wool and was so taken with the experience. The Wool series was the very best book I had ever read. The writing was the most awesome I have ever read. Hugh can tell a story like no other. My only wish is that I could read it again......for the first time.

Cool...now that this is posted, the Intro shows up blue!

Here is my intro post! http://hughhowey.com/forums/showthre...=2251#post2251

The Wool books are my favourite... well... ever. I have been reading a looooooong time and no books have gripped me like this before, especially cumulatively bringing me deeper and deeper into the story, into the characters, so much so that it physically hurt to stop reading each night (at 2am or 3am when I knew my kids would be waking in just a mere few hours!).

I read each book individually but I really think having them all together is a great chance for readers to do it all at once, one fell swoop. And I love these books and this author so much I bought myself a signed copy from his website! I feel like a bit of a groupie, ha ha ha.

The exploits of the characters within are so vast, so true, and so interesting. The over-all implications of each characters actions.... well. Just amazing. And even after reading all 5 which were extremely satisfying (like a good meal and a glass of wine) I am left knowing that there are still many more tales to tell, and hopefully Mr. Hugh Howey will indulge us all as time goes on (and he did, woot!). I will be reading everything he writes from here forward fo' shizzle.

Thanks for the chance to participate in this rockin' competition. Can't wait for the live feed later. Woot!

I kept hearing about Wool and how fantastically super amazingly delicious it was through an author's forum. For about three months, I held off reading it because I'll typically have six or seven books going at once and just didn't have room in my stack for another book I wouldn't get around to finishing. (This isn't a comment on Wool, that's coming, but I get tired of trying to read stuff that is lauded by critics and usually winds up boring me to death. It's definitely personal preference, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how any agent/editor/publisher/critic would deduce that something with a plot resembling "Ralph Johnson travels to war-torn Yugoslavia to find his long lost immigrant grandfather's turned-to-rubble bakery" would be interesting to the general reading public. Snorefest.)

Enter Wool. I figured for $0.99, the short-enough first installment would be something I could finish, regardless of the quality. And, eureka! One sitting. And I'm aware that's not a major accomplishment given the length, but it completely blew me away. I immediately forced it upon my wife and bought #2. She's not a sci-fi fan by any means, (I mean, I couldn't even get her into Battlestar. I know, right?) but the next night, I hear the following coming from upstairs: "Holy @#$%! Are you finished with part two yet?!"

This was during the olden days, back when we were a single-Kindle household. And so it went for the rest of the series throughout a week or so in March. It's the absolute truth that the awesomesauce of Wool inspired me to start writing again and rediscover a [talent] I'd ultimately lost over the years because life got in the way.

Thanks for the great read, Hugh, and more importantly, thanks for the inspiration.
