Hi everyone! My name is Amy and while I'm relatively new to the world of "Wool," I have absolutely joined the crusade! My husband initially introduced me to the books, and I have been doing everything in my power to introduce them to everyone else in my life. Like you all, I appreciate the prose and the compelling plot. I feel that Hugh raises the bar on the idea of writing as a "craft." He has a unique ability to twist the plot and turn the world on its head at the absolute perfect moment. He does't lose you first, so that you waste time wondering if you missed some important plot point, only to find that the author has intentionally left out details so you'd never be able to guess what happens. Nor does he reveal his hand too early. All the revelations happen in an instant--and they made me simultaneously feel elated to have joined the newer, more complete version of the world, and also, as if the floor had gone out from under me. Speaking of Hugh, like you all, I think that Wool is spectacular, but think that its author as is just as engaging.
I've also read all of the short stories on his website (They are awesome--check them out. Loved Mouth breathers!). Molly Fyde is next on my list. Can't wait!
