I think anyone who claims to be a B5 fan is probably a bit on the "more mature" side--it premiered in the U.S. in January 1994 and ran for 5 years. tink and I have talked about it privately and agree that some of the Fx sucked and some of the acting was horrendous but that it had an overarching story arc made us diehard fans. For me, this was a first: in episode x, a character would make some statement that left me scratching my head, and then in episode x + 3 (or something), something would happen or someone would say something, and I'd sit straight up and yell, "Holy crap! That's what so-and-so was talking about!" Further, subsequent viewings of old episodes would have me sitting straight up still again to shout, "I didn't see that the first time!"

I really do think that the love of B5 is a generational thing, because before it, I had never had a series so engage me on an intellectual level. Obviously, we've had some pretty brilliant series come down the line since then, but since B5 took this particular maidenhead of mine, I'm always going to think of it fondly. And yes, I have all of them on DVD.

It still hurts me to know that the actors of a couple of key characters have been dead for some time.

I loved Babylon 5. I just bought the entire collection on DVD a while ago (Still haven't watched it all yet though) I know I missed a lot and I don't think I've ever seen the last 2 seasons.

I'm a huge SciFi fan. When I was 10 or so, I would watch the classic Battlestar Galactica series and that's what got me into SciFi to begin with. From there on I watched the classic Star Trek, Babylon 5 when it started, any scifi movie I could get my hands on and then all Star Trek shows, Earth 2 etc.

On Babylon 5 I loved how it was this mix of so many aliens having to kinda make do together on this station. I guess that's why STS9 was my favorite Star Trek series, but anyway, favorite character definitely Londo Mollari. I loved how his character evolved throughout the show.

Big B5 fan here I agree that the effects sucked, and the acting was a bit...melodramatic at times (*cough*Delenn*cough*), but the storyline was phenomenal. Big fan!

I remember watching ST:TOS when I was young, and the original Battlestar Galactica. My favorite sci-fi/fantasy shows are:

Doctor Who (esp. 9th Doctor and beyond)
Star Trek (all of them)
B5 (of course. I'm not completely hijacking the thread. Well, mostly, but not completely )
BSG (I liked the new one, even with the wonky ending; I even watched Caprica)
LOST (ditto about endings)
Farscape (fantastic show! I was upset when it ended)
Firefly (see Farscape)
Buffy/Angel (though once Cordy chopped her hair off and slept with a certain person on the show, things went downhill fast)
Stargate(s)

Am currently watching True Blood and GoT, but am behind on both. And waiting for Doctor Who to start up again soon!
Um...I'm sure there are more. That's all I can think of right now.

I tried to get into Dr. Who but I couldn't. I honestly don't see what all this fascination is about. It's not my thing.
All the other shows you listed, I love. Well, Buffy I just started watching because my boyfriend is a die hard fan and made me watch it, so now I actually like it a lot.

Shows I am currently watching are Community, Big Bang Theory, Warehouse 13, and Falling Skies.

The thing about Doctor Who is it starts out cheesy just like the old, old episodes used to be (so if you've only seen the first few episodes from the new series, I understand why it might not have grabbed you). But then suddenly it turns completely AWESOME. Drama, action, even some romance. Have you watched any Sherlock? It's mind-blowing, and written by the same guy.

Community is that show about Greendale Community College. It's by Dan Harmon who just got kicked off the show so I'm kinda curious about how it will continue. it will certainly not be the same. How can I describe it? A lawyer has to go back to college and starts a study group because he wants to score the blond girl from his spanish class. When I started watching it, I was somewhat torn about it during the first episode but it definitely picked up the pace. It's so full of pop-culture references, well, I think I have to call these geek-culture references nowadays, and it's just hilarious. I love that show.

I've been watching Big Bang Theory ever since the start and a lot of people blame this whole and sudden geek-popularity on this show, which I think is rather silly. The show itself is very intelligent and funny, sure it plays with stereotypes but which show doesn't.

I think I caught a few more recent episodes of Dr. Who but I don't know why it's not my thing. It just didn't hook me. Knowing my boyfriend though he's gonna force me to watch it lol, just like he's going to do with Avatar The Last Airbender. >.<

I love Falling Skies. I used to watch Jericho, which is kinda similar with its focus on a group of survivors of a post-apocalyptic event. And I loved Flash Forward though I've never read the book.

I watched some of Jericho, and eventually gave up on Flash Forward (felt bad doing it, but the writing was just abysmal). Clearly Community is not what I was thinking. Someone recently told me about a reality show where people are stuck in an abandoned part of a city and forced to survive. As much as I enjoy post-apocalyptic stuff, I am not a fan of reality shows and watching real people argue over crap. So I haven't watched it (whatever it is).
