What's the fog?

I must have missed something - what's the purpose of the white fog used at the Silo 12 exodus, and mentioned at a few other points in First Shift? Is this just part of clearing the airlock, same as the Argon in the other books? If so, why does Troy remotely deploy it?

Exactly, that's the question. Several people have been gnawing on this topic for a while. Check the thread that starts with "Confused.." just down the list form here. It's in at least one other thread as well. More questions than answers at this point. Do add your thoughts on this, please

Isn't is just the antidote for the evil nanobots they started spraying around, maybe using the jets for drama?
