what to read next

Have any of you read The Rook by Daniel O'Malley? That was a really fun story. I read the first chapter for free online back in March, and was totally hooked, ordered the book right away.

Wow, The Rook looks pretty cool, I'll check that out. It's more than I'm used to spending on books these days though

Have you read Alastair Reynolds? My favorite is "Pushing Ice". He also wrote an outstanding Trilogy.

I've just started Dark Eden by Chris Beckett, only a few pages in and found so far it's the most bizare thing I have ever read. Something about a handfull of people stranded on some planet, then 170 years later their great great etc grandchildren are living on the planet and still waiting for extraction. They appear to be inbred and suffer from mental disabilities and physical disabilities and disfigurment. Really odd, but brilliant so far.

I've also downloaded a preview of Breakdown by Katherine Amt Hanna. I haven't started this yet but the blurb says it's about a post apocalyptic fella stranded in USA who manages to find a way home, to England, takes him six years and apparently is a different take on the genre. Sounds good.

Ok, so, to contain this to one thread... I LOVED DARK EDEN! I'm not sure where it could be taken, but I would happily read a squeal or 10 to it

Dark Eden is pricey on the kindle at over $10....but it does sound very interesting

I like books that delve into the human emotions. In between HH books I can usually find a good read from McSweeneys. I'm almost finished with a good one by John Brandon titled A Million Heavens.

Just finished Ready Player One. Quick read and cock full of 80's references. While it's a bit pricey, it's well worth the nostalgia. It's also post-apocalyptic too.

Just finished Spinward Fringe: Framework by Randolph Lanonde, good space opera and was the 7th or 8th book in the series.

Now reading Psion Delta by Jacob Gowans, good YA fantasy that is very reminiscent of Ender's Game--this is the third book in the series and though I am only at 50% through it, it is a fun as the first two.

No clue what I am going to read next. It might be time to spring for the latest Safehold book by David Weber. It seems like everything I am reading currently is from a series, but thats okay, I hate when a good book ends.
