Confused on Senator Thurmans Anti-Cryo bill

I am trying to figure out the motivation for the Anti-Cryo bill. Thurman was a strong supporter of the technology and dumped millions into it. He then had a change of heart and had all of those people, that spent tons of their own money to be frozen, to then be thawed? He then went and I'm assuming stole the technology to be used in the Cryo-Pods after the reboot?

To me this really shows a Evil S.O.B.

Destroy people that hoped to someday be cured
Destroy companies that worked on the technology
Lie to the world about how evil "He" thought the technology was
Use the same technology to do what "He" planned

Couldn't he just have used the same technology for his Cryo-Pods? Was his goal to deny anyone else from possibly surviving the Reboot?

What year was this bill even past? it says that it was signed before Don and mick where even born. Was nano-tech even that developed at that time to start thinking of ending the world as we knew it? Was he planning on Rebooting regardless of how it was done? Nukes, Nanites, whatever it took to destroy everything.

Sorry for rambling, I"m coming up with more stuff as I write this

That was my thought. You make a good point about how far in the past the "Thaw Man" stuff happened though. Has he been planning this that long? Or is he a puppet of a group that has been planning this that long? I suspect the latter.

But you're right, I thought it ironic that they ended up using the technology he killed, but I never connected that this plan had been in motion that long. I just thought of something. Going to start a new thread.

I'm wondering if Thurman made the connection between the possibilities of nano bots and people freezing early on and took steps to bury it before someone else caught on and went public with it. That assumes the silo plan was at least in the early planning stages.

What if he knew all those frozen people were already dead, because they hadn't taken certain precautions? He might have felt sickened by the money being pulled from accounts that should have gone to grief-stricken family members. Or it could have been the false sense of home that disgusted him.

And what if all he saw all around himself was dead people? What if the progress in Iran was much further along than people thought? What if every single one of them was a ticking time-bomb? What if the reason for the meetings in the nano chamber was to try and undo the damage already caused by what's in the air?

You all read the first 5 Wool books, right? Do you remember how you felt about Bernard in the beginning vs. the end? I'm not going to make this simple for anyone.

Are you telling us that every person on earth was already under attack from enemy nano's? IF so wouldn't all of the people that ended up in the silo's, also be infected? hmmm.... I wonder if the silo's are also giant nano chambers? But wait, nano's have to be programmed for specific DNA patterns, correct?

They can be, but that doesn't mean they have to be. Hugh's comments also help make sense of Thurman telling Donald that some of the nanites in the chamber are for him....

Yeah. At the beginning he was an ass. At the end he was a sympathetic ass. I could understand why he did what he did. But he was still an ass.

The nanites CAN be programmed to limit by specific patterns, but I'll bet that's an intentional limiter places on them, I'll be they can be just turned loose on a whole population. There could be any number of things in the silos to slowly kill the nanites... Remember Donald/Troy waking up at the end of the book... "The taste on his tongue was metallic. It tasted like the death of a machine."
