The SILO trailer dropped yesterday, and oh my gosh people are having reactions! Some of my favorite websites for culture news have picked this up. Highlights:
AV Club: “Apple TV+ gets their Westworld on in trailer for new series Silo“
Bloody Disgusting: The new trailer teases just how intense the search for truth might get for the protagonists amidst a post-apocalyptic setting. It also highlights an all-star cast at the center of this dystopian thriller.
TV Fanatic: “[Rebecca] Ferguson plays Juliette, an engineer, who seeks answers about a loved one’s murder and tumbles onto a mystery that goes far deeper than she could have ever imagined, leading her to discover that if the lies don’t kill you, the truth will.”
Yahoo!: Ferguson leads a starry ensemble cast that also includes Common, Rashida Jones, David Oyelowo, Iain Glen, Chinaza Uche, Avi Nash, Tim Robbins, and Harriet Walter of “Succession” and “Ted Lasso.”
Gizmodo: “The first two episodes debut on May 5, with further episodes airing weekly. Graham Yost, who also oversaw the excellent series Justified, is the showrunner, which bodes extremely well for the show; as a fan of the books, I hope this all results in Silo becoming an underground hit, pun obviously intended.”
There’s tons more! Way too much to summarize. It’s wonderfully overwhelming.
So, so excited for this – and for you! Got my book club to read Wool and to our delight you Zoomed our meeting to talk to us about it. You’ve done all the work – and the rewards keep coming. Apple TV is one streaming service I’ve resisted so far. Will definitely sign up for this. It looks fantastic. I’m predicting it will be a hit!
We can not wait!
Everyone in my immediate family (including our teen boys) has re-read the series in preparation. I also have 4 copies of Wool, and each one is currently on loan to various friends and family who have not read it yet.
You’re journey has been inspiring. My Mother has been working on her 1st novel for a few years now. Whenever she gets discouraged I like to remind her that someday she, too, could be sailing the world, naked on a yacht, witnessing her beloved book grow into a massively popular TV show.
We are extremely happy for you and for the SILO series. Kuddos and congratulations!
Hugh, I hope the final show will not be as “dark” as the trailer. I don’t mean dystopian, dark, but lighting dark. I had to turn my brightness up on my phone to 100% in order to see any detail. My TV will compensate for this I hope. Also, watching it at night with no lights on will give the impression that it’s brighter than watching it during the daylight.
I am excited about the show as it has been a long time coming. I bought the books again to share with my family. Two to want to read it before the Apple TV show two want to wait until the series is complete before reading all three books.
Yahoo that the Silo series starts next month. As a fan fiction writer in this world will the release on Apple TV+ have any effect on those of use who have already published under the Hugh Howey bannner?
