Silo has become synonymous with AppleTV and their incredible slate of prestige science fiction. The support they’ve thrown at this show has been absolutely incredible. In fact, the show probably wouldn’t have gotten off the ground without them. Over the past six years, the group that assembled around this show has become like family to me, and they’ll live in my heart forever.

But there’s another family that rarely gets any mention, without whom this show wouldn’t exist, and that’s an incredible group of folks over at AMC. Before Silo got the green light from Apple and went into production, the rights were with AMC Studios. They tried several times to find a way to produce the show in-house, but the scripts never quite got there, or the cost was too prohibitive to find a path forward.

AMC wasn’t about to give up, though, and kept looking for a way. Carrie Gillogly, Josh Sizer, Ben Davis, Allison Moore, Susie Fitzgerald, and many others worked their butts off to make this show a reality. One of the hardest (and most brilliant) decisions they ever made was going into partnership with Apple, where they knew they would cede control and credit, but a show they believed in would get made.

I can’t tell you how rare deals like this are. AMC put the show over the studio, and SILO wouldn’t exist today without them. Every episode I watch, I look for their title card and I remember where and how this show got its start. Several members of the original team have moved on to other things, and my heart travels with them.

AMC will never get the full credit they deserve, and Apple has earned every accolade and much, much more. It’s been incredible to watch their partnership combine into something greater than the sum of its parts.
